Two Scoops - Deals and Ice Cream

From the Charlottetown Guardian:

P.E.I. Premier Wade MacLauchlan says he was able to finally secure an agreement from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to equally cost share the province’s $150-million underwater power cable project.

MacLauchlan had a private meeting with Trudeau during the prime minister’s visit to the Island Tuesday.

“What we’ve advocated for from the beginning was that the full amount, $142-million, should be 50/50 sharing and that’s what we have from the federal government now,” MacLauchlan said.

From CBC PEI:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met Islanders and served ice cream during a short visit to P.E.I. on Tuesday afternoon.

"Always good to be back in Prince Edward Island," Trudeau said after meeting with P.E.I. Premier Wade MacLauchlan at the Charlottetown Airport.

Earlier in the day, Trudeau was in Bridgetown, N.S., to announce $116 million in federal funding for projects related to water and transit. He told a crowd in Bridgetown that the federal government was committed to the P.E.I.-N.S. ferry service.

In Charlottetown, Trudeau didn't make a funding announcement. Instead, he visited some of the city's popular attractions, including Cows Creamery, where he served ice cream to a long line of people and posed for photos.
