Thousands in western P.E.I. lose power for second Monday in a row

More than 14,000 customers without electricity as of 9 a.m.

For the second Monday in a row, thousands of people in western Prince Edward Island have lost power.

As of 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 10, the outage affected the City of Summerside and much of Prince County, leaving 14,137 customers without electricity. That number had been as high as 19,098 earlier in the morning.

In a statement, the City of Summerside said backup generators had been started and some residents would start to see power return. The city said it would rotate power to various circuits based …
