P.E.I. parents, teens urged to plan ahead as grad season raises impaired driving risks

Community tips can also help prevent dangerous situations at big parties, RCMP say

With prom and graduation party season around the corner, P.E.I. RCMP are reminding students, parents and communities to build safety into their celebrations.

Cpl. Gavin Moore, the P.E.I. RCMP's media relations officer, said some parties can attract hundreds of teens, and substances like alcohol may be present — making impaired driving a big concern.

“We work to address impaired driving by setting up checkpoints, by being close by and being able to address issues as they arise,” Moore said.
