North Rustico's new breakwater is ready to go — and it wasn't even supposed to be finished until next summer.

John Peters, president of the North Rustico Harbour Authority, said the old breakwater was "drastically damaged" by post-tropical storm Fiona. Changing climactic conditions and the lack of ice cover during the winter also meant drifting sand that needed to be dredged from the navigational channel.
